Anacortes in the rear view mirror...

For now. Ginny and I took advantage of promised good weather and moved the boat from Anacortes to Seattle this weekend.

Day one had us leaving Anacortes bright and early so we would pass through the Swinomish Channel before low tide. Here we motored under our first bridges and passed a railroad swing bridge. The weather was great - clear skies and sunny with zero wind. After the channel we headed south to Langley where we anchored for the night. Our first over night on the hook! Day one wild life score card:

1 x bald eagle
6 x dolphins
19 x seals

The forecast for day two predicted overcast skies, with rain of course, but good wind. Unfortunately we quickly figured out the wind was out of the south - our required direction of travel... Since we were on a schedule we were forced to fire up the engine, drop the sails and head into the wind.

So we ended up motoring the whole 78 miles but we are safe and sound in our new slip at Shilshole Marina - and as I type, driving back to Anacortes to pick up the truck and head back home. At least Shilshole is only one hour and fifteen minutes from the house!!!
